Cattle prices that were previously only wished for, are starting to be reached, with records being broken across several breeds in recent months. Reflecting the confidence in the future of the beef industry, the past few months of commercial cattle sales have seen 18 out of 21 categories set new records in 2022. Charolais bull:
$265,000 for lot 4 Moongool Revolution in the Moongool Charolais & Simbrah Bull Sale 2022 on 19th September 2022. The record Charolais bull price was broken twice in 2022, with six bulls selling over the previous record of $83,000, set in 2017. The 2017 record was initially broken by lot 10, Palgrove Ringo, selling for $115,000 in the Palgrove Annual Bull Sale on 9th September.
Santa Gertrudis Bull:
$250,000 for lot 7 Yarrawonga S316 in the Yarrawonga Santa Gertrudis Sale on 21st September 2022. This result was the fourth time the record had been broken in a month; including $180,000 for lot 1 Yarrawonga S156 in the same sale, $175,000 for lot 77 Glenn Oaks Sterling S314 in the Santa Central 2022 sale on 13th September 2022, and $160,000 for lot 9 Riverina Roland Sanchez R88 in the NIOA & RL Pastoral Co Production sale on 1st September 2022.
Angus Unjoined Heifer:
$140,000 for lot 74 Circle 8 Rosebud S669 in the Circle 8 Bulls 30th Anniversary Bull and Female Sale on 8th September 2022.
Speckle Park Bull:
$100,000 for lot 4 Six Star Southern Aurora Justice R10, in the Six Star & Friends Autumn Alliance Speckle Park Sale on 6th May 2022. This also reportedly broke the world record price for a Speckle Park bull.
Yearling Hereford Bull:
$91,000 for lot 5 Tobruk Southern Cross S15 in the AuctionsPlus Monthly Cattle Stud & Genetics Sale on 13th June 2022. This bull also achieved the record price for the AuctionsPlus Monthly Cattle Stud & Genetics Sale.
Shorthorn Bull:
$85,000 for lot 3 Futurity Rapid Gain R322 in the Futurity Pastoral Bull Sale on 25th August 2022. The previous record was held by lot 20, The Grove Kilobytes Q0356, which sold for $42,000 on 16th September 2021.
Ultrablack Bull:
$70,000 for lot 106 Palgrove Revolution in the Palgrove Annual Bull Sale on 9th September 2022.
Red Angus Bull:
$33,000 for lot 64 Hicks Marble Bar R48 in the Hicks Beef Spring Bull Sale 2022 on 7th September 2022. The previous record was held by lot 69 Hicks Henry Q28 which sold for $26,000 on 1st September 2021.
