October’s stud bull sales interfaced through AuctionsPlus proved another month of impressive results across several breeds, with annual sales to dispersals achieving strong results, collectively underscoring the quality offerings this spring stud selling season.
From top-selling bulls to competitive online engagement, Santa Gertrudis sales led the month’s success, reflecting both the appeal of their genetics and the robust demand for premium stud offerings.

The Strathmore Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale achieved the status of the top priced stud bull interfaced through AuctionsPlus throughout the month of October.
The top selling sire, Strathmore Useful U778 (PS), sold for $50,000 to David Greenup, Rosevale Santa Gertrudis.

Meanwhile, the sale achieved almost perfect clearance at 99%, grossing $1,312,000 with an average price of $11,566 per head.
Classified S bulls averaged $12,758, and herd bulls $9,792. Bulk buyers in the sale included Dark River Downs, Longreach; Lissoy, Blackall; and Many Waters, Middlemount, among others.
Lot 10, Strathmore Ubiquitous U204 (PS), was the second top, purchased by Scott Dunlop, Dunlop Santa Gertrudis, for $40,000.
Seven lots were purchased online to two successful bidders.
The Barcoo Santa Breeders Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale on October 22, 2024, 95 bulls sold from 109 offered, achieving an 88% clearance and averaging $8,674 per head.
The Drensmaine draft averaged $8,545, while Forest Park lots reached $8,756. The sale’s top price of $37,500 went to Lot 109, a 21-month-old bull from Forest Park bred by Hardigreen Park Windsor, purchased by David Bassingthwaighte of Waco Santa Gertrudis. The second-highest price of $32,500 was paid by Malcolm Gadsby for Forest Park Quartz 2209 (P).
The Rockingham Santa Gertrudis 16th Annual Sale at Tara Station, Condobolin, NSW, on October 3, recorded strong results, with a $10,950 sale average across 46 bulls sold from 49 offered.
Queensland buyer Shane Hatton of Diamond H Santa Gertrudis, Taroom, secured the sale-topping Lot 38, Rockingham Trundle (P), for $26,000 via AuctionsPlus. Lot 5, Rockingham Touchdown (PS), sold for $22,000 to Shaun and Jo McGuigan, Cree Santa Gertrudis, Qld.
Guest vendor Denngal Santa Gertrudis also presented a line of eight bulls, all of which sold, averaging $7,125 and reaching a high of $12,000. The Hague family further offered a selection of 200 commercial Santa Gertrudis and cross females, averaging $1,467 per head.
Notably, the sale's top bull, Rockingham Trundle T254—a final progeny of Diamond H Striker S151—was a standout with a weight of 716 kg, an IMF of 4.8%, and an EMA of 128 cm², setting a promising benchmark for the stud’s genetic offerings.
Buyers from South Australia, Victoria, and Queensland flocked to Yallambee Angus at Berrima in the Southern Highlands for its complete female dispersal sale on Thursday.
Known for their functional and moderate cattle, the stud attracted strong interest both onsite and online, with a total auction clearance rate of 95%.
Owned by Richard and Lynne Crookes, Yallambee Angus achieved impressive results, selling 188 black Angus lots and 55 red Angus lots. The average price per lot was $7,110, with the top sale price reaching $36,000.
Strong online interest saw 49 bidders place 358 bids on 132 lots, selling 58 online. Highlights included the top-priced black cow and calf unit, Baynes Prue R7, which fetched $28,000, and herd sire Landfall Pheasantry S235, sold for $36,000.
Among the Red Angus, Lot 213, Yallambee Miss Detour T143 with her bull calf at foot, topped the cow and calf unit sales at $12,000. The two-year-old cow, by Bieber Spartan E639 and from Yallambee Miss Detour R44, alongside her calf sired by Yallambee Titan, was purchased by Redline Cattle Co, Eidsvold, Queensland.
LANDFALL PHEASANTRY S235 fetched the top price of $36,000 at theYallambee Angus and Red Angus dispersal sale.
Meanwhile, the Lethbridge family’s 55th annual Warren Point Poll Hereford Bull Sale at Mitchell, Queensland, on October 11 saw strong support from repeat buyers, achieving a 92% clearance with 46 of 50 bulls sold to an average of $6,630.
The top-selling bull, Warren Point Umpire U038, was knocked down for $18,000 to Cam Flower of Garrabarra, Roma. This 22-month-old, homozygous polled bull, sired by Sevenbardot Mark N062 and out of Warren Point Jewel M236, boasted a weight of 848 kg, a 121 cm² EMA, and 5.3% IMF.
