It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.
The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) dropped to 964.31c/kg cwt by Friday morning, a decrease of 39.33c for the week and 51.86c for the month. It’s 145.90c higher than the same time last year.
The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, fell this week, by 30.21c/kg to 499.05c/kg on Friday morning. It is down 27.73c on last month and up 71.08c on the same time last year.
The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, fell and was sitting at 476.47c/kg on Friday morning. It’s down 8.74c on last week.
The Processor Cow Indicator was 374.66c/kg on Friday morning, down 1.30c on last week and 4.30c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma, Wagga and Dalby.
Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.
In the past week the AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) eased 63c to 1502c/kg DW.
The Light Lamb Indicator fell 77.81c this week to be 1,073.48c on Friday morning, which was 109.47c down on last month and 81.95c up on last year.
The Heavy Lamb Indicator fell by 13.62c over the past week to be sitting at 1,113.65c/kg cwt. That represents a decrease of 21.10c over the past month and it's 65.25c lower than the same time last year.
