It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.
The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) dropped a further 37.40c this week to be 918.25c/kg cwt by Friday morning. It's a 54.45c decrease for the month and 28.75c higher than the same time last year.
The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, also fell this week, by 33.85c/kg to 476.30c/kg on Friday morning. It is down 23.62c on last month and up 9.53c on the same time last year.
The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, fell and was sitting at 440.47c/kg on Friday morning. It’s down 24.27c on last week and down 28.46c on last month.
The Processor Cow Indicator was 373.70c/kg on Friday morning, down 12.35c on last week and 5.75c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Dubbo, Roma and Wagga.
Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.
The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) eased 30c to settle at 1,402c/kg cwt.
The Light Lamb Indicator lost 19.35c this week to be 1,026.85c on Friday morning, which was 29.42c down on last month and 41.06c back on the same time last year.
The Heavy Lamb Indicator fell by 9.71c over the past week to be sitting at 1,090.56c/kg cwt. That represents a decrease of 31.25c over the past month and it's 51.63c lower than the same time last year.
