INDICATORS: Livestock prices fall across the board this week

It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) softened this week by 40.73c to be 955.65c/kg cwt by Friday morning. It's 19.14c up on the month, and 58.27c higher than the same time last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, also fell this week, by 22.59c/kg to 510.15c/kg on Friday morning. It is up 30.31c on last month and up 31.12c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, fell and was sitting at 454.75c/kg on Friday morning. It’s down 10.33c on last week and up 13.49c on last month.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 386.05c/kg on Friday morning, down 4.43c on last week and up 16.81c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma, Forbes and Wagga. 

Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) fell 135c to close at 1432c/kg dressed weight. 

The Light Lamb Indicator dropped 54.73c this week to be 1,143.77c on Friday morning, which was 10.82c up on last month and 44.65c down on last year.

The Heavy Lamb Indicator fell by 47.24c over the past week to be sitting at 1,101.73c/kg cwt. That represents an increase of 3.33c over the past month and it's 86.20c lower than the same time last year.
