INDICATORS: NYCI leads gains despite EYCI slip

It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) softened this week by 6.47c this week to be 996.38c/kg cwt by Friday morning. It's 79.65c up on the month, a 98.36c higher than the same time last year.

The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, lifted this week, by 23.96c/kg to 533.83c/kg on Friday morning. It is up 63.77c on last month and up 65.29c on the same time last year.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, lifted and was sitting at 475.08c/kg on Friday morning. It’s down 10.62c on last week and up 24.27c on last month.

The Processor Cow Indicator was 390.47c/kg on Friday morning, up 0.56c on last week and 26.28c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma, Dalby and Blackall. 

Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) fell 64c to close at 1,481c/kg cwt this week.

The Light Lamb Indicator gained 14.17c this week to be 1,106.59c on Friday morning, which was 22.16c up on last month and 77.36c up on last year.

The Heavy Lamb Indicator lifted by 10.60c over the past week to be sitting at 1,150.28c/kg cwt. That represents an increase of 20.23c over the past month and it's 16.41c lower than the same time last year.
