It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.
The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) lifted to 832.05c/kg cwt by Friday morning, an increase of 23.20c for the week and 29.30c for the month. It’s 158.97c higher than the same time last year.
The National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI), which reflects national markets and online transactions, also lifted this week, by 18.59c/kg to 441.96c/kg on Friday morning. It is up 16.43c on last month and up 85.54c on the same time last year.
The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, increased and was sitting at 420.81c/kg on Friday morning. It’s 12.13c up on last week.
The Processor Cow Indicator was 336.79c/kg on Friday morning, up 10.33c on last week and 13.52c for the month. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma, Carcoar and Wagga.
Let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.
The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) lifted 16c to 1,328c/kg DW.
The Light Lamb Indicator fell 38.37c to be 1,041.12c on Friday morning, which was 129.37c down on last month and 302.80 up on last year.
The Heavy Lamb Indicator also fell, by 44.50c over the past week to be sitting at 1,063.54c/kg cwt. That is a decrease of 70.18c over the past month and up 208.67c on the same time last year.
