September saw a quiet month for AuctionsPlus goat listings with commercial offerings back 60% on last month with 1,932 head.Tight supply bought with it strong clearance rates across the majority of categories, while prices remained mixed, impacted by quality.
Overall clearance for the month reached 58%, steady on last month. Post-sale negotiations remain integral to securing a sale for goat listings, with 75% of the offering sold post auction.
NSW continue to dominate listings accounting for 90% of September listings and Queensland registered the largest drop in listings with just 57 head offered across the four weeks. Central Western NSW and N.W. Slopes & Plains dominated listing regions accounting for 49% and 39% of listings, respectively. Looking to purchasing regions, the Riverina, NSW accounted for 68% of monthly purchases followed by Northern Queensland at 19%.
Boer/Rangeland does registered the largest offering this month with the 1,364 head accounting for 71% of the offering. The offering experienced the impacts of selective buying achieving a 57% clearance rate and averaging $145/head – up $53 on last month. From Walgett, NSW a line of 700 Boer/Rangeland does, aged 4-6 months and averaging 20kg lwt returned $130/head.
Rangeland does saw 288 head offered across the month achieving a 50% clearance rate, while prices rose on last month averaging $162/head – up $42. From Nyngan, NSW a line of 144 Rangeland does aged 1-5 years and averaging 36kg lwt returned $161.50/head to a buyer in Queensland.
A reduced offering of Boer does resulted in the largest month-on-month price increase with the 48 head averaging $420/head, up $215 and reaching a 75% clearance rate. From Braidwood, NSW a line of 36 Boer does aged 12-18 months, averaging 33kg lwt returned $420/head.
