The 2025 Casterton Working Dog Auction wrapped up with a solid 79% clearance rate and strong average prices, thanks in large part to a surge in online interest.
Interfaced through AuctionsPlus, the hybrid sale listed 59 working dogs and drew buyers from across the country. Of the lots sold, 24 were purchased online, with competitive bidding pushing the online average to $8,369— reaching above the overall sale average of $7,645.
Buyers from every state except the Northern Territory secured dogs via AuctionsPlus, with New South Wales leading the charge, purchasing nine dogs online. South Australia followed closely with six.

Top price honours were shared online, with two dogs fetching $17,500 each:
Lot 21, ‘Billy’, a two-year-old black and tan Kelpie from Jack Leonard of Casterton, Victoria. Billy is the son of ‘Sally’, who made headlines when she sold for $26,000 at the 2022 auction.

Lot 25, ‘Beloka Skye’, a two-year-old red and tan bitch from Ash Caruana of Penshurst, Victoria, described as "very stylish with quick cover and footwork", and also "backs with free bark and on command".

Online engagement was particularly strong, with 179 active bidders logging on and the digital catalogue racking up 25,000 views — demonstrating the auction’s growing national reach and reputation.
