Written by AuctionsPlus | Dec 15, 2021 4:34:17 AM

It’s a year that will be remembered for regular records breaking across both the sheep and cattle markets, for great seasonal conditions and a return of confidence and optimism across the sector.

We’d like to thank all assessors, agents, agency staff, vendors and buyers that have supported AuctionsPlus through 2021. Throughout FY2020-21, we have seen the largest ever throughput of Sheep and Cattle through the platform.

The annual awards, recognise assessors and agencies with the highest throughput across Sheep and Lambs, Cattle and a combined agency award for both Sheep and Cattle.

From the Top of Australia to the south, FY2021 has seen assessors listing stock the length and breath of the country, we take a closer look at those with the highest throughput.

Top Throughput Agency – Combined Sheep and Cattle

Riverina Livestock Agents (RLA) took the honours for the fourth consecutive year for the Top Agency – Combined Sheep and Cattle.

“It’s not often that everything can line up, here in Wagga and surrounds we have seen season highs for livestock, land prices and even merino wool is pretty good” said James Tierney of RLA

James mentioned they are naturally seeing the markets evolve to AuctionsPlus over time with “more feeder cattle going onto AuctionsPlus”

“We’re thrilled (to win this award), we’re really proud of our brand and working with AuctionsPlus and our clients to market livestock”

Highest Throughput Assessor - Sheep

Geoff McDougall from Nutrien Ag Solutions Hay has been recognized as this year’s highest throughput assessor for sheep on the platform.

“Our seasons got a bit tough during the winter months, but it has been a really good selling season (otherwise)”

Geoff has observed a shift in his clients behaviours to capitalize on the back of the spring market and maintain ewes for the next year.

“Most vendors have made a change to sell wether lambs straight off mum, it’s working pretty well now” he said

Highest Throughput Agency – Sheep

Elders Kingston have been using AuctionsPlus since the Computer Aided Livestock Marketing (CALM) days.

Strong seasonal conditions have supported Elders Kingston in South Australia reach the highest throughput agency for sheep in FY21. Greg Cobiac acknowledged the many existing buyers as well as new ones had come onto the scene over the past 12 months. Particularly through Central and Northern NSW.

“We’ve been able to establish some really good relationships with other agents throughout the states which has been fantastic”

Greg’s looking to continue the success over the next 12 months, seeing a key to continued success over the next 12 months being good seasons across VIC and NSW.

Top Throughput Agency and Assessor - Cattle

It was a busy year in Northwest Queensland, the Stockplace Marketing claimed two awards, Luke Westaway as the Top Throughput Assessor for Cattle and the team being recognized as the Top Throughput Agency for Cattle.

“The AuctionsPlus platform has offered Northwest Queensland their own Saleyards system in the geographical area to take advantage of offering smaller lines and realizing fantastic results”

“Stockplace Richmond are so appreciate of the support and the trust of our vendor’s to adopt to using the AuctionsPlus system all year”

It is most definitely a team effort when it comes to getting stock into the system ready for sale day. Luke mentioned he often wasn’t alone late on a Wednesday evening inputting the relevant information for the Thursday sale.

“I’m honoured and humbled to be named the highest throughput agent and I’d also like to acknowledge the other agencies that put in such a big effort for the year supporting this great platform. I couldn’t have done it without our great team that make it all possible”.
