'Somerset sold through Ray White Rural Manning Valley with 13 registered bidders at auction who drove the price $2 million over the reserve to sell for $8 million.

The 892 hectare property in Kimbriki in the Manning Valley was settled by the Andrew's family in 1871 and featured heavily in the Manning Valley Historical Society's booklet "The Saga of Somerset".

The sale attracted 200 enquiries from all states and territories as well as some international parties, according to the agent Rob Chapman.

“Scale and water security were both major features and source of many enquiries. It ended up selling to a local family with other interests in our valley; the underbidder was also local,” Rob said.

‘Somerset’ could be used as a fully functioning beef or dairy farming, growing high yielding crops and silage on the fertile river flats. as well as equine pursuits and a range of leisure activities from picnics by five kilometres of river frontage, to fishing and kayaking, or farm stays.
