Dubbo’s Vintage Truck, Tractor & Quilt Show Returns for the First Time Since the Pandemic

For the first time since 2018 dozens of exhibitors turned out in soggy conditions for the Dubbo vintage truck, tractor and quilt show.

Expensive fuel did nothing to deter passionate collectors from showing and shining their vintage tractors and trucks in Dubbo.

More than 200 trucks and tractors showed up for the event, with some travelling from interstate. Organiser Jon Mancer said it was so wonderful to put on the event again after missing out in 2020 due to the pandemic.

“It was the ninth show of ours,” he said. “It was great to be back.” The feature of the day was the grand parade.

Hundreds of people turned out for the event despite a week of rain leading up to it.

“As it turned out we were lucky to hold the Show, as there was a hail storm late in the afternoon followed by heavy rain,” Mr Mancer said.

People came from all over, with one man driving from Sydney to Brisbane and back to Dubbo to bring a truck to show.

“People came from all over, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland as well.”

Mr Mancer said the high cost of fuel didn’t deter collectors.

“I get about two litres per kilometre in my truck and I carry about 1100 litres of fuel so that makes it about $2000 worth of fuel to fill it up. Of course it would be cheaper to keep them locked up at home in the garage but you’ve got to get them out and about.” Mr Mancer paid tribute to his volunteers for ensuring the show ran smoothly despite the weather.

The Golden Oldies Truck Club members did an awesome job making the show run the way it did,” he said. The event is held bi-annually.

“We are looking forward to being back in 2024, hopefully the weekend weather should be better.”
