Good Going Out Cutlery: Turning the Humble Spoon into Something Special

As Dad always says, “to quote Kenny Rogers, there’s someone for everyone”, we take that same approach (whilst listening to basically that exact playlist) in the shed. Every ring we make is completely unique in style and size and although they might not be to everyone’s taste, every ring ends up going to someone who loves it.

Good Going Out Cutlery started in the work shed as a small hobby and a distraction for Dad and I from the drought that began to creep up in late 2017. Almost four years later we have sold thousands of rings across the country, have various stockists, and have recently had an article featured in the Land.

Each ring is hand crafted in the shed using cutlery we have sourced from across the central west in various second-hand shops, as well as donations we receive. We have commissioned pieces with beautiful stories, such as a collection of spoons that were received as a wedding present 60+ years ago, that a lady had made into rings for her Granddaughters.

Although the drought is hopefully behind us for a while, and farm work is back in full swing, spending time in the shed each evening with Dad will always be a highlight of any day, and that 20 minutes spent laughing, creating, and listening to Kenny makes every long hour we ever spent feeding stock worthwhile.
