After 55 years of ownership, the 12,648 hectare property on the Ward River has sold for $20.7 million.

There’s movement at the station with the sale of the premium Queensland grazing property Byrgenna.

Owned by the Ross family for the past 55 years, the property on the Ward River sold recently to a private buyer from Alpha, Queensland.

Keith Richardson from Elders Rural Queensland South said there was a high volume of enquiries for the property.

“We had lots of interest, both local and from away.”

Byrgenna consists of 11,548 hectares, plus a term lease of 1,100 hectares, and features a 117 year old historic four bedroom homestead with polished floors, tongue and groove walls and fireplaces and is surrounded by an established garden.

There is also a cottage and quarters on the property.

Mr Richardson said they are yet to see any impact of rising interest rates on the rural market.

“I would say on this sale there was no sign of any effect but we are only in the early stages so we will find out more as we go forward.”
