At the age of 81, eighth generation farmer Peter Wise has listed his Buderim fig farm for sale, but he’s doing it on his terms.
The Wise family has been farming on the Sunshine Coast since 1901.
Now at the age of 81, Peter Wise, an eighth generation farmer, has decided the time is right to sell his Buderim property.
He’s calling for expressions of interest for his highly sought after 35 acres. For the past 56 years Mr Wise has farmed figs at the property in the heart of Maroochydore. He said he will keep four hectares for fig farming and to cultivate coffee trees.
“I started farming at the age of 17 and I am still going into my 80s. My specialty today is growing the best fresh figs on the Sunshine Coast,” he said.
“I believe faith has dealt the perfect hand in 2022. At present is a golden foundation; an opportunity for a visionary, financially sound developer who also wishes to add everlasting mega prestige to their development portfolio.”
Peter Wise's British-born grandfather Frederick migrated to Australia seeking his fortune in gold, before buying Palmyra on Buderim for 800 pounds.
Much of their land has been sold off for major roads and CBD subdivisions but this latest sale will be on Mr Wise’s own terms, with no real estate agents involved.
He’s released a 57 page information booklet on the history and specs of the property to allow expressions of interest from potential buyers.
