Cassie Prowse may be one of the most interacted with people at AuctionsPlus, but even for the most regular of users, you mightn’t know much about Cass. Cass is our Social Media Coordinator and is an integral part of the marketing team.
Hailing from her family's mixed cropping farm one hundred kilometres southwest of Tamworth, helping on the farm was just a normal part of school holidays for Cass. More recently, she’s been working from the farm, but nowadays it’s in a slightly different capacity, while the family gears up for harvest, she’s busy working with our marketing team to share relevant information with our community.
Like many school leavers, there wasn’t a set career path that really stood out to Cassie, however, a Graphic Design degree at the University of Wollongong caught her eye, so she enrolled. Coming full circle, she finished her degree and headed back to the family property to work while beginning her job searching.
“I was really loving being at home at the time, and one day a job ad came up at AuctionsPlus”
Like many of our job ads, a background in agriculture is a bonus but by no means essential. For Cassie, however, she thought a job advertisement for a graphic designer in Sydney with an agriculture background could be the perfect fit for her.
“I thought to myself ‘there can’t be too many out there’ so I applied”
While for many adult-aged ‘farm kids’ in Sydney, the farm becomes a blur as the hustle and bustle and beaches can overcome. The work allows Cass to feel connected to home.
“Hearing the team on the phones, it often reminds me of Mum and Dad and makes me feel more connected to home, even though I’m in Sydney”
Another aspect is the diversity within the team and the different backgrounds and skills that people bring to the table.
“There are people from all backgrounds, those who have come from farms and those who are completely removed from ag, but we’re all working towards the same thing”
