Imagine waiting 20 years for neighbouring farming country to come up only for two properties next door to go on sale at the same time. That’s what happened in Monong recently.
A neighbour has purchased his second property in as many weeks with the sale of “Womera and Springville Aggregation” for $11.4million.
The aggregation features dual creek frontage, excellent infrastructure with plenty of opportunity for further development.
The almost 3500 acre property had been held by the same family for more than 100 years so the new owner made a decisive offer knowing it might be that long before they see land come up in the tightly held Molong area again.
Last month the same local buyer purchased nearby “Bonnie Doon'' for more than $4 million. It too was a long held asset, also offered for the first time since 1910.
Selling agent Scott Petersen from McGrath Molong said it was an expensive month for the buyer.
“He’s been pretty active out here in the past month, he said he’s been waiting 20 years for the country to come up for sale and it’s all come up at the same time,” he said. “It kind of forced his hand because both the properties are adjoining his land. The previous auction is on one side and this latest one is on the other. He’ll improve it and develop it like he has with other country he’s purchased in the area.”
