‘Washpool Lodge’ has been sold for the first time since 2015. The farm has played host to many racing greats since its inception 30 years ago.
Set upon 360 acres of fertile river flats and undulating hills in Aratula is the world renowned 'Washpool Lodge'.
Established in 1991, many elite champions of the track have passed through the property’s gates, including Melbourne Cup winner, 'Shocking', the unrivalled 'Black Caviar', 'Buffering' and 'Black Heart Bart', just to name a few. It recently sold to a neighbour for $7.5 million.
Selling agent Clint Donovan from Donovan + Co. Property Specialists Burleigh Heads said it’s a spectacular property with a rich history.
“It’s been one of Queensland’s biggest and most well known pre-training and break facilities for the past 30 years. It’s extremely well set up and a highly functioning and commercial operation. There’s been some amazing champions spelled and broken in there. Black Caviar was spelled there during her illustrious career.”
Mr Donovan said the new owners plan to continue growing the business.
“The neighbours bought it and are extending their ownership in the area with the intention to continue running the facility as a business so it’s wonderful for the industry as a whole.”
Clint said their main business is equine properties and the market continues to go from strength to strength.
“There’s a lot of action in the equine space so I haven't noticed a slowdown. For me it’s as strong as it was 6-12 months ago. There may be a correction coming but for now it’s extremely healthy,” he added.
