The 2021-22 financial year consolidated AuctionsPlus commercial growth, enabling producers to utilize the national exposure of Australia's largest digital ag platform. Records for the year were set across numerous sales and website usage statistics, with Gross Merchandise Sales (GMS) for FY22 lifting 49% year-on-year, to a record A$3.51billion.

With 138,830 registered users on the platform and over one million page views per week, paired with an average of 41,796 website visitors in FY22, vendors can be assured of the widest possible exposure for their products – be it cattle, sheep, machinery, working dogs, or even camels. Underpinning the usage results was record commercial cattle offerings, up 10% on the previous year, to total 898,747 head, as commercial sheep and lamb listings rose 6%, to total 4,677,638 head.

Monthly bidder and buyer statistics both increased for the year, with 6,179 bidders and 3,384 buyers, increasing 30% and 37%, respectively on last year. The increase in bidder and buyer activity resulted in strong clearance rates for the year, with cattle sitting at 82.6% - down slightly from 82.9% from FY21, but higher than the 81.4% in FY20. Sheep sales averaged a 74% clearance rate for the year, down from 77% in FY21.

The record year for AuctionsPlus didn’t stop with commercial livestock, with machinery and clearing sales registering a 63% annual increase, totaling 516 sales. The increase in machinery and clearing sales was assisted by increased demand for second-hand items, resulting in machinery sales representing the largest portion of web traffic viewing, with 42% of users viewing machinery sales – up 19% on FY21.

Looking at total AuctionsPlus GMS, at $3.5 billion, the increase year-on-year is mirrored by the increase in total users on the platform. FY22 saw total unique users increase 51% to total 2,173,399 users and total page views across the website lifted 38% to 54 million views.
