Rain spreading across much of southern Australia in the next week

After months of wet weather affecting those in northern Australia, the next week brings lots of activity for southern Australia.

Above: rain projections for the next 8 days.

Breaking it down from Wednesday to Saturday, the main activity is likely to be over eastern NSW and VIC thanks to a moisture laden trough. Showers and storms, along with areas of widespread rain. Affecting inland parts on Wednesday and Thursday, then mainly right at the east coast on Friday and Saturday.

On the weekend, activity ramps up on the western side of the country. A tropical low should track off the northwest coast, pushing moisture down into southern WA from Saturday.

From Sunday to next Wednesday that moisture feed continues, and spreads eastwards. Firstly over WA, then across SA and western VIC and into southwestern NSW. TAS may even be in line for some.

Then once the instability meets up with moisture from the Pacific Ocean, the activity ramps up again over eastern NSW and VIC, along with northeast TAS.
