This spring has seen strong demand for stud rams across the AuctionsPlus platform, with sales reflecting both high buyer interest and impressive prices. As breeding operations continue to focus on improving genetic quality, the platform has become a crucial avenue for vendors and buyers to connect.

The Leahcim Stud’s champion Ram Leahcim 233079 stands as the top priced ram interfaced through the platform over the past three months.

The ram (lot 92) was purchased for $36,000 at the CLASSINGS CLASSIC POLL MERINO RAM SALE held in Murray Bridge on September 4. Leahcim 233079 (lot 92) was purchased by fellow WA stud and repeat Classings buyer Westwood Poll, with semen shares to WA stud Nepowie and Boorana stud, Woorndoo, Victoria.

The April 2023-drop ram, sired by Leahcim 203349, scored 158 on the SM Index (top 5%) and was in the top 20% for PWT (8.7) and YWT (10.2). It also had 18.1M wool, with 2.5SD, 13.9CV and 99.8CF.

Meanwhile, another ram from the same stud achieved the second highest price at the sale. Leahcim 232733 (lot 91) was sold for $27,000 to the Whiting family's Stonewolf Poll Merino stud, Gibson, WA, in a sole purchase.

At Greenethorpe, NSW, the ‘Felix Rams 26th Annual Lambplan Ram Sale’ held out of Greenethorpe, NSW, sold tag 230417 (lot 158) for $28,000 to an online bidder.

The offering of 140 Poll Dorsets and 65 White Suffolks brought a competitive online presence, achieving perfect clearance (100%) with almost one quarter of rams offered secured to online bidders.

Earlier in the year, South Australian based dual purpose Merino stud White River Poll Merinos, set a new stud record at their 2024 'White River Poll Merino Ram Sale'. The record-setting ram (lot 2) was purchased for $27,000 onsite to Orrie Cowie. The sale had a strong online presence, contributing to the auction’s 99% clearance rate in head.

The ‘Adelaide Merino and Poll Merino Ram Sale 2024’ achieved the highest average price within a sequential auction style interfaced through AuctionsPlus this spring stud selling season. The auction achieved an average price of $7,387 and topped at $23,000.

Other notable sales included the ‘Leahcim Poll Merino Ram Sale’ which achieved an average price of $2,338 and topped at $21,000. However, it was the auction's strong online presence which secured 41 lots, with the top ram purchased online selling for $18,000 (lot 8).

The ‘Glenlea Park Poll Merino Stud Sale’ averaged $4,000 across the 154 lots and topped at $20,000. The sale achieved 92% clearance with three rams secured to online bidders.

The Condobolin-based ‘Tullinga Dorper Studs on Farm Ram Sale’, sold all 109 Dorper and White Dorper rams to average $3,653 and top at $7,200. The sale attracted a keen online presence, with online purchases topping at $6,600.

While the spring stud ram sales on AuctionsPlus have already seen solid results, with strong competition for top genetics, the season is far from over. See details of more highly anticipated sales below.
