AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb listings were up significantly on last week's pinch in numbers, with a total of 55,873 head offered, 92% up on last week's numbers.
The clearance rate dipped 13 percentage points to finish the week at 70%, with all other indicators reflecting a struggle to absorb the large offering of the back of last week's significantly smaller yarding.
Prices have taken cut, with the Crossbred Lamb indicator down 3% to average $144 a head. The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb indicator felt a similar negative performance, falling 97c/kg behind last week's numbers to average 701c/kg dressed.
The value over reserve averaged $10/head over set reserves, falling $3 from last week. Lots that sold during the auction averaged $14/head above reserve averaging $145/head, with the figure slightly above post-auction transactions.
The new season lamb offerings made a sharp recovery from last week, with a total of 36,301 offered up 150% from the 14,549 offered last week. This week's numbers fell just shy of the boom in new season lambs offered a fortnight ago, with 37,195 listed in the week ending August 30.
This category made up 65% of the total yarding. New season lambs achieved a 83% clearance rate, down from 97% last week. The average price remained steady to average $128/head this week.
Listings increased significantly in NSW, with numbers up 18,904 from last week. Queensland experienced a slight reduction in numbers from the week prior. However, listings in South Australia and Victoria recovered significantly. Victoria experienced the greatest change, listing an additional 5,054 bringing the total offered to 7,335.
The NSW Riverina remained the highest listing region. With the 12,085 head listed from the region, the numbers made up 27% of the week's total sheep and lamb offerings across the platform.

Crossbred lambs registered 20,643 head, up 285% from the numbers seen last week, with prices easing to average of $125 down on last week's average of $148/head. Merino Wether Lambs witnessed an incline in numbers, increasing 54% from last week. The 15,220 head offered averaged $96/head, lowering $19 a head from the week prior.
From Lorquon, VIC a line of 120 Border Leicester/Poll Merino ewes July/August 2023 drop and weighing 79kg returned $392/head, or 497c/kg lwt and will travel to a buyer in Horsham, VIC.
First cross ewe lamb prcies held steady, averaging $169/head. However, the clearance rate fell to 34%, down from 68% last week. From Narromine, NSW a line of 71 Australian White/Australian White ewes aged July/August drop and weighing 79kg returned $250/head, or 316c/kg lwt and will travel to a buyer in Condobolin, NSW.
Not Station Mated Shedding Merino Ewe Hoggets averaged $143/head, rising $61/head from last week. Listing numbers for the category were up 226%, with 5,621 included in this week's offering, compared to 1,725 offered last week.
