Free for all Australian farmers, the new platform provides real-time insights, emissions integrity and credentialling, innovative funding models, and a pathway to carbon sequestration.

A new and innovative software platform has been launched by AgriProve, Australia’s leading soil carbon project developer and solutions provider. Free and easy-to-use, it has been designed to help farmers regenerate their land, improve production value, increase profitability, and provide the level of traceability and reporting required to meet increasingly rigorous supply chain demands.

Earlier this month, it was announced that AgriProve acquired the Geora technology platform that provides farmers, agribusinesses and financiers with technical tools to run risk and impact assessments across agri-supply chains.

Uniting Geora’s deep-tech expertise and climate intelligence engine with AgriProve’s own ground-truthed soil carbon expertise and extensive 22,000-plus physical and digitised soil sample library, the platform allows farmers to focus on improving soil health and farm productivity while being assured of transparency in their carbon tracking.

The platform is poised to become Australia’s leading farm insights engine for natural capital management with its approachable design simplifying complex data and empowering farmers to track, verify and grow their carbon potential.

“As an industry, agriculture is always under scrutiny and pressure to solve emissions and climate challenges while facing increasing margin pressure,” said AgriProve General Manager, Stuart Upton.

“We know that Aussie farmers can lead the way in solving food production and climate challenges, however they are often expected to do this at the expense of farmgate revenue. There are a lot of part-solutions out there, but they are fragmented, expensive, and only solve one piece of the puzzle. Until now, there’s been no comprehensive system that can help a farmer meet these requirements and help them on a pathway to profitability.

“Our goal was simple – to create a free, unified platform that gives farmers the tools and necessary capital sources to invest and be rewarded for climate-improving on-farm practices.”

Creating an account is simple and takes less time than boiling a kettle. Farmers simply input details about their operations including livestock management, crop production and land use. Leveraging advanced AI and predictive modelling, this information is then processed to calculate farm emissions, carbon sequestration potential, industry benchmarking, and immediate insights into how nature and climate scores can be improved.

“It’s not just about knowing your ‘number’, it’s about how farmers can improve that number to generate value. This technology takes the guesswork out of managing natural capital and ultimately helps our farmers build better soil, better land and better profits,” Mr Upton said.

The more data that gets inputted, the more insights are generated. New features are being rolled out continually to integrate with IoTs and other software, as well as the ability to create shareable profiles and reports for supply chain visibility and traceability. Underpinned with an immutable audit log, the platform connects all stakeholders and bridges the gap between on-farm practices, landscape response, security and surety of low emission supply, and credibility of carbon sequestration.

The platform delivers science-based and real-time insights on soil health, climate risks like drought and floods, and financing opportunities to help farmers take the next step to transition to more sustainable practices. It allows farmers to focus on improving soil health and farm productivity while being assured of transparency in their carbon tracking.

AgriProve has 810 soil carbon projects across the country registered in the Government’s Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU) Scheme. Together, those projects are sequestering more than 185,000 tonnes of CO2e.

Calculated and awarded by the government’s Clean Energy Regulator, Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) can be used to reduce the on-farm emissions footprint, generate additional income through sale, or access price premiums e.g. carbon neutral livestock.

The soil carbon market is expected to return $3.7 billion in revenue to Australian farmers by the year 2040, but only 1 per cent of farmers are currently participating in active soil carbon projects.

AgriProve’s new platform lowers the barriers so more farmers can access carbon sequestration and build on-farm resilience. It helps them achieve healthier soils, faster pasture growth and higher crop yields, greater water holding capacity, faster recovery after drought, and less need for synthetic fertiliser.

“This isn’t just another software platform. This platform is the first step in farmers generating better farm profits, securing the supply chain to meet climate goals and giving their consumers visibility and traceability,” said Mr Upton.

“Our hope is that farmers across Australia will use this platform to start or continue their journey towards gaining more insights, bettering their farm management tools, sequestering more carbon and generating more revenue. It is a simple solution to support sustainable agriculture.”
