Producers invited to explore practical pathways to net zero at upcoming conference

Australian agriculture’s pathway to reducing emissions while boosting productivity will be in the spotlight at the upcoming Pathways to Zero Net Emissions conference, hosted by Zero Net Emissions Agriculture Cooperative Research Centre (ZNE-Ag CRC).

Chief Executive Officer of ZNE-Ag CRC, Richard Heath, said the event would bring together farmers, advisors, consultants, and researchers to explore technologies and strategies already making a difference on farm.

“Our mission is to reduce emissions in a way that maintains thriving, profitable agricultural businesses,” Mr Heath said.

“It’s not about reducing emissions at the cost of agriculture. It’s about scaling up and commercialising technologies that deliver both profitability and emissions reduction.”

The conference program will feature farmers sharing practical examples of what they are already doing on their properties, from adopting new fertiliser practices and cattle management strategies to incorporating agroforestry.

“I’m really excited to hear from farmers directly about the steps they’re taking now, why they’re doing it, and what they see as the benefits,” Mr Heath said. “Hearing from the coalface is critical to making sure we’re focused on solutions that are genuinely needed.”

The CRC will also use the event to launch its Pathways to Zero Net Emissions Stocktake, a practical guide outlining technologies currently available to farmers, with plans for ongoing updates as new innovations emerge.

The conference is expected to attract a diverse audience of producers, industry advisors, and researchers, offering opportunities to network, exchange knowledge, and see firsthand that emissions reduction in agriculture is not a theoretical exercise, but something achievable today.

“Farmers are already proving that the technologies and practices available now are not only helping with emissions reduction but are also improving farm businesses,” Mr Heath said.

The conference will be held from November 27-28, 2025, at the University of Queensland, Brisbane.

Tickets are available at ZNE-Ag CRC Annual Conference | Zero Net Emissions Agriculture CRC.
