Following a record-breaking listing year in 2021, with over 300,000 Dorper and White Dorper commercial listings, 2022 has highlighted the continued demand and growth online. As spring and the new season lamb flush brings the largest number of Dorper and White Dorper listings, 2022 is on track to surpass last year’s record listing, with over 210,000 head listed to date.

Diving into the buying and selling footprint for the breed, the national impact the breed has achieved is evident with southern Queensland and NSW dominating listing areas. Buying patterns see a large portion of stock heading south in Victoria and South Australia, where producers are looking to expand their Dorper and White Dorper flock.

Looking to Dorper and White Dorper stud sales, 2021 saw a 53% increase year-on-year with 28 studs utilising the online platform for their sale. The strength of ASBV data and photos, paired with pre-recorded videos, continues to see rising confidence in bidding online, with 2021 statistics seeing on average 56% of lots receiving online bids. 2022 to date has seen 9 sales held online, with 14 already booked in for the remainder of the year.
