The largest AuctionsPlus commercial cattle offering in five weeks has been catalogued for sale tomorrow, with 16,250 head scheduled. While logistics and access across several regions are still hampered by recent heavy falls, this week’s offering is more in line with “normal” December numbers, especially with the holiday period closures looming.

In what is one of the clearest indications of the uniqueness of the 2021 season, next week’s outlook for high temperatures and an absence of rain is receiving plenty of buzz. While unfortunately too late for many grain harvests, the wet, cooler spring through many parts has constrained normal growth patterns, with a burst of heat sure to kick things into gear.

Listings Heatmap 1

Weaner & Yearling Sale 1, (commencing at 9am EDST) has just under 7,000 head catalogued, with strong numbers again out of central and southern Queensland. Given the indication through the physical markets this week, buyer interest is expected to be ferocious, especially for anything under 300kg.

With the main portion of the 5,000 head in the Eastern States Cattle Sale (commencing 11am) also with a southern focus, there should be some very keen buyers looking to get cattle back into paddocks prior to the Christmas break.
