Here They Come! Fourth Largest Listing of Commercial Cattle on Offer

A 47% lift in AuctionsPlus cattle listings this week will see the fourth largest commercial listing since 2016, with 24,293 head on offer across the Friday cattle sales. Cattle producers have made the most of a drier week and pounced on the opportunity to offer cattle.

To be held across four sales, the large increase for the week is driven by Southern Queensland- accounting for 21% of all listings with 5,024 head. Large volumes of cattle are also being offered out of the NSW Northwest Slopes and Plains (2,533 head), NSW Riverina (2,235 head) and Northern Queensland (2,003 head).

The Weaner and Yearling sales will offer a total of 16,538 head across 450 lots broken across two separate sales Commencing at 9am AEDT will be the QLD & NSW Weaner and Yearling sale, followed by the NSW, VIC & SA Weaner and Yearling sale commencing at 9:30 AEDT.

Steer listings account for 57% of the offering while heifers account for 42%. The largest categories across the Weaner and Yearling sales include steers weighing 330-400kg (22%), steers weighing 280-330kg (16%) and heifers weighing 330-400kg (15%).

The Eastern States sales will offer a total of 7,890 head across 347 lots. Commencing at 10am AEDT will be the QLD & NSW Eastern States Cattle Sale, followed by the NSW, VIC, TAS and SA Eastern States Cattle Sale at 10:30am AEDT.

PTIC heifers account for 49% of all listings in the Eastern States sales, with 3,874 head on offer. PTIC cows also comprise a large portion of the offering with the 1,061 head listed, accounting for 13.4% of the Eastern States catalogue.
