Close to 75,000 head will be offered across Tuesdays’ AuctionsPlus National Lamb and National Sheep sales tomorrow – up 28%, or 16,968 head on the previous week. With the smell of football finals and warmer days in late winter, also comes the first influx of spring lambs – with this weeks’ increase in offerings a very likely prelude to additional supplies in coming weeks.

For the National Lamb Sale, commencing at 1pm (EST), there is 42,002 head listed across 155 lots, with almost 14,000 head of suckers listed. Given last week’s strong clearance rates across most lamb categories, along with some drier and warmer weather on the horizon, demand is expected to be robust.

The 32,975 head offered in the Tuesday National Sheep Sale, commencing at 2pm (EST), will be across 174 lots, including over 24,000 head of ewes. Last week’s clearance rates were very patchy, ranging from 100% for SM Merino ewes, down to only 44% for SIL first cross ewes.
