The long-term commitment to training and preparation paid-off for students at Tocal College on Monday, with AuctionsPlus hosting the Tocal Approved Australian Stock Horse Sale. Held as an online only sale, facilitated through Hunter Valley agents Bowe & Lidbury, the overall result fell short of the 2021 sale, but exceeded the 2020 sale, grossing $200,500 for the 13 lots offered and sold.

The online only sale commenced at 10am Sunday 6th November, with the average price sitting at $14,000, with 260 bids placed before the timer started at 4pm Monday 7th November. The top price of the sale went to lot 12, “Tocal Tasmin”, which galloped away at $23,500. The three-year-old mare standing at 14.2 ½ hands had bids from seven different users across three states, for a total of 39 bids. Over the 13 lots sold, the nine geldings averaged $14,889, while the four mares averaged $16,625/head.

Across the sale online catalogue views and active bidders were slightly back on last year, while logins throughout the sale jumped to 1,578. Catalogue views for the auction totalled over 6,500 by the end of the auction, while the number of online bids finished at 306. There were 43 active bidders competing online, ranging from Tasmania, Victoria, NSW and Queensland, with 11 successful buyers.
