Another full board of sales will be on offer across AuctionsPlus on Friday – with another surge in numbers across the three main commercial sales, with another 12 special or stud sales. Preliminary numbers have almost 19,000 head listed across Weaner & Yearling Sale 1 and Sale 2 and the Eastern States Cattle Sale. This is 33% above the same week last year and the largest weekly offering since late May 2021.

Why the increase this week? While the past week of dry conditions and early spring warmth may be a prelude of conditions to come, several reports of southern producers finally being able to access previously sodden yards and roads have also been filtering in. Indeed, one producer commented at the frustration and anxiety of having market ready cattle that couldn’t be accessed – while record prices continued to be clocked-up in recent weeks.

This week’s sales again have almost every corner of Australia covered, including cattle out of the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of WA, while central and northern Queensland producers have again put some large and consistent lines on the market. Across the two Weaner & Yearling sales, there is over 5,000 head of weaners catalogued for the week.
