The number of cattle to be offered through the three commercial cattle sales for AuctionsPlus on Friday 22nd October is up 15% on the previous week, at 15,645 head. After a somewhat drier week throughout most of the key cattle regions of eastern Australia, demand is expected to again be very high across all categories, with the continuation of record results through many physical markets this week.

The first sale to kick off on Friday at 9am EDST will be the Weaner & Yearling Sale 1, focused on Queensland and Northern NSW lines. With 7,800 head catalogued for the sale, with 3,829 weaners listed, initial demand for the lighter lines is expected to again be fierce, with increased pre-auction catalogue views. Reflecting last weeks results, demand is again expected to be strongest through northern NSW and southern Queensland.

With a southern focused catalogue, Weaner & Yearling Sale 2, commencing at 10 EDST, will have a smaller offering of 4,409 head. Good falls through southern NSW and Victoria in the past week is expected to again make for furious competition across the lighter steer lots, while good numbers of heavy feeder weight steers continue to be offered.

It will be another comparatively tight offering of proven breeding stock, with 3,436 head catalogued for the Eastern States Cattle Sale, commencing at 11am EDST. The 1,632 head of cows with calves-at-foot through the sale will be closely scrutinized, with clearance rates last week ranging from 84-100%.
