A total of 10,064 head of Santa Gertrudis cattle have been offered so far on AuctionsPlus for 2021.

Light steers 200-280kg liveweight averaged $1,438/head in 2021, increasing 72% from 2020 ($838/head) and 117% from 2019 ($663/head). Whilst the heavier steers, 280-330kg liveweight averaged $1,545/head in 2021, increasing 34% from 2020 and 91% from 2019, averaging $1,152/head and $808/head respectively.

Light heifers represented the largest price increase, climbing 157% from 2019 to 2021. The category averaged $1,262/head in 2021, increasing $771 from 2019 where the average price was $491/head. Heavier heifers averaged $1,457/head in 2021 for the 1,079 head offered, increasing 36% from 2020 ($1,071/head) and 117% from 2019 ($671/head).

PTIC heifers were the largest Santa Gertrudis category offered in 2021, at 1,281 head, averaging $2,257/head. This represented a price increase of 47% from 2020 and 131% from 2019, averaging $1,537/head and $975/head respectively.

The 1,011 head of cows with CAF averaged $2,646/unit in 2021, increasing 43% from the previous year ($1,845/unit) and 157% increase from 2019 ($1,028/unit).
