Light steers, 200-280kg liveweight averaged $1,430/head for the January to May period, increasing 69% from 2020 ($848/head) and 105% from 2019 ($696/head).
Heifers 200-280kg liveweight reported a price increase of 131% from 2019, averaging $1,280/head in 2021.
A highlight for the breed was the PTIC heifer category, which increased by 205% since 2019 and 45% since the same time last year. The category averaged $2,254/head in 2021, $1,552/head in 2020 and $738/head in 2019.
Cows with CAF reported an average price of $2,986/unit in 2021 for the 235 head offered, increasing 37% from 2020 ($2,173/unit) and 109% from 2019 ($1,430/unit).
