Property Roundup: $40m Holbrook listing sold

The Weekly Times is reporting that the $40 million listed Wantagong Station in the Riverina has been sold to a prominent Victorian farming family. The 1643ha Wantagong Station, run as a Poll Merino and Hereford stud by the Shaw family is now in the hands of the Richmond family's Rose Grange operation. It was originally listed for sale in September via Elders' Nick Myer, and sale details are so far confidential.

Originally running 25,000 dry sheep equivalent of Poll Merinos, the property has added Hereford breeders.

According to the listing the property has extensive accommodation and working infrastructure, a high-quality natural resource base, excellent balance of topography, ongoing pasture improvement and input history and abundant natural water supply, including 750mm annual rainfall.

Treasury Wine Estates offloads vineyards worth $23m to Nuveen

Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) has sold two vineyards in separate deals – which are understood to be worth more than a combined $23 million. 

The world’s largest manager of farmland assets, Nuveen Natural Capital, acquired Treasury Wine Estates’ 552ha Heathcote vineyard portfolio, in a deal The Weekly Times is reporting is worth $14 million. A water portfolio of 945ML of entitlements was also sold for an undisclosed price. 

Nuveen Natural Capital, is backed by Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America, has $US10.3 billion worth of farmland under management.

Russell Iles of Woodbridge Iles Property negotiated the sale on behalf of TWE. 

Meanwhile, The Weekly Times is also reporting TWE also sold its 487.81ha Bordertown vineyard portfolio in South Australia to CW Wines late last year. That property had a listing price of $9.35m including water entitlements of up to 1086.7ML were also offered for sale. 

Colliers Agribusiness national director Tim Altschwager and selling agent Nick Dean handled the sale of the Bordertown vineyard portfolio.

Mount Lonsdale back on the market 

Mount Lonsdale, an 8147-hectare exclusion fenced Maranoa property, is back on the market after less than four years in the hands of Peter and Shari Knudsen. 

It was purchased in March 2020 and is now set to be auctioned on March 27. 

Two of the sides of Mount Lonsdale are government maintained Wild Dog Barrier Fence and the Knudsen’s have overseen 23km of fencing completed as well. 

Mount Lonsdale also features a five-bedroom homestead with an inground pool and a five-bedroom manager's residence. 

Russell Jorgensen, Nutrien Harcourts GDL, Dalby, is handling the sale.

Cape York property with bonus cattle 

Farmonline is reporting that 107,064-hectare Cape York Peninsula property Fairlight Station is being offered with an unknown number of cattle. 

The property has a 35km frontage to the permanent Palmer River, a number of natural springs, flowing creeks and permanent waterholes in the Kennedy, St George and Little river systems as well as 30 dams and two bores. 

Infrastructure includes a three-bedroom home and 16 room workers' quarters. 
The sale is being handled by Russell Wolff from Vohland Real Estate.
