evokeAG. has been signalling the future for the ag sector for half a decade.

Soon the event, which attracted 1,600 people to Adelaide last year, will be heading to Perth to convene from 20-21 February.

But while tech is at the core of evokeAG.’s mission, the themes at evoke AG. are anything but blue sky.

The themes at the core of the program are having a seismic impact on agricultural production and investment, and attending evoke AG. will put participants in the box seat to benefit from, and cope with, change.

Here are three of the big themes at evoke AG. in 2024.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Much hyped for half a decade, 2023 was the year that AI finally became fixed on everyone’s radar. The launch of ChatGPT put an AI assistant in every pocket, and users jumped on in droves.

YartaChatGPT took just two months to reach 100 million users when it was launched in November 2022, and the company now features over 2 million developers. AI platforms are rapidly being developed by Google and other tech giants, which will likely lead to an explosion of use cases.

With the ability to synthesise vast amounts text and data, optimise workflows, and even act as a sounding board for new ideas, the opportunities for agriculture are vast.

evokeAG. has a keynote and panel sessions on AI’s impact on the sector, investigating what it means for producing, trading and consuming food and agricultural commodities. Many of the companies who are demonstrating throughout the event in the evoke AG. showcase have data at their core, so expect to hear myriad ways in which AI can be used to help farms run better.

Sustainability > Natural Capital

Agriculture has increasingly been in the crosshairs when it comes to environmental stewardship, and numerous frameworks are being developed to monitor and disclose emissions more effectively.

Major supermarkets are already expecting their suppliers to have reporting tools in place, and new accounting rules will add to the number of companies, like banks and insurers, expecting greater Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) transparency in the supply chain.

While some see all this new reporting as a burden, others see it as an opportunity. AuctionsPlus recently hosted a panel on the amount of money being directed to so-called natural capital projects, as well as the successes of carbon-credit generating projects – that was one of the most-read stories on APlus News last year.

Richard EckardAt evoke AG., AuctionsPlus will be moderating two panels on the topic, including one on how to ensure sustainable, profitable agrifood systems, as well as a deep dive on what natural capital is, and how producers can benefit from the increasing investment demand for such projects.

The agtech innovation ecosystem

A regular highlight of evoke AG. has always been the exposure to the latest in thinking in technology.

Startup alleyStartup and scaleup networking is a key feature of the event

This year, evoke AG. features 40 pioneering startups and 10 ambitious scaleups from precision farming, to animal management and traceability, to sustainability and the circular economy.

The program will also feature a deep dive into how Australian agtech startups can thrive on a global stage and investigate the models for collaboration and financing that will power the next generation of innovation.

2023 was a year where venture capital became more constrained, and speakers will explore how startups and scaleups can maximise their potential investment opportunities.

A chance to connect

As the new year gets under way, evoke AG. is an exciting opportunity to prepare for a year where change is likely to come rapidly.

Evoke AG. provides a global platform for agriculture, with direct access to investors, potential customers and strategic partners.

While AI, global supply chain transparency, and digital innovations will be features on stage, there is as much happening on the sidelines, offering producers a valuable chance to meet like-minded thinkers and inspire new ways of thinking and working.
