AuctionsPlus goat listings for the past fortnight totalled 2,144 head, down substantially on the previous fortnight. The sale on Tuesday, September 21 offered 778 head, with a majority of the fortnightly offering being listed in the sale for the following week. Western NSW was the highest listing region with 744 head, followed by the NW Slopes and Plains and Central West NSW, offering 482 and 294 head, respectively. Southern Queensland was the highest purchasing region, with 480 head secured.
The overall listings were predominately made up of Rangeland goats, accounting for 1,815 head. Rangeland backgrounder bucks sold from $101 to $114, averaging $108/head, up $8. The top priced line consisted of 235 bucks from Hay NSW, averaging 31kg liveweight, and ranging from 3-12 months of age.
Rangeland does sold from $121 to $194, to average $148/head – up $24 on the previous fortnight. A line of 250 Rangeland does from Bourke NSW, sold to $125/head. The does ranged from 3–36 months and weighed 37kg liveweight.
A line of 12 Red Boer does from Coonabarabran NSW, sold for $297/head. These does ranged from 3-6 years of age and weighed 37kg. From Gurya NSW, a line of 32 mixed sex Rangeland goats, averaging 28.4kg and 1–6 months of age sold for $110/head.
From Surat, Queensland, “Palmer Steel Trading” offered 4 lines of second cross Kalahari bucks which sold between $430 and $980/head - with three lines clearing reserve by over $600. These bucks ranged in age between 3–11 years and weighed from 25.8 to 51.5kg liveweight, with successful buyers from Cunnamulla and Dubbo.
