AuctionsPlus commercial goat numbers for November totaled 2,976 head – down 15% from the previous month. Following on from analysis earlier in the week looking at OTH goat prices and livestock prices HERE, reduced listings and an easing in prices across all categories continued. Overall goat prices both online and OTH have contributed to a reduction in listings in recent months.

Of the goats sold online during November, 54% were purchased at auction – up from just 9% in October. A total of 44% of goat lots were sold by post sale negotiations – up from 24% last month, while 2% were purchased using the “meet reserve” feature.

Queensland goat listings accounted for 81% of goats offered across November - holding steady with October, while NSW accounted for the remaining 19%. Top listing towns included Begonia, NSW, Charleville, Queensland and Longreach, Queensland. On the purchasing side, 84% of goats went to Queensland buyers, while the remaining 16% went to NSW. Top purchasing locations included Murrami, NSW, Bollon, Queensland and Ravenswood, Queensland.

Boer does were the largest category for the month, accounting for 24% of the total offering. Clearance rates reached 67% for the category, with prices averaging $116/head - back $84 from last month. A line of 230 Boer does from Balranald, NSW, aged 2-7 years, weighing 48kg lwt returned $175/head and will travel to Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Rangeland Does had a total of 475 head offered across November, with the category registering a 100% clearance. Prices for the category averaged $69/head - back $44 from last month. From Longreach, Queensland, a line of 375 Rangeland Does aged weighing 18kg lwt returned $50/head and will travel to Ravenswood, Queensland.

Mixed sex rangeland goats had a total of 600 head listed across the month. Clearance rates for the category reached 50%, with prices for the category averaging $50/head. From Movern, Southern Queensland, a line of 300 mixed sex rangeland goats weighing 19kg lwt returned $50/head travelled to Cunnamulla, Queensland.
