Goat listings on AuctionsPlus increased by 23% during the past fortnight, totalling 6,270 head. The increase comes off the back of a strong offering this week, at 5,242 head, with the balance listed in the previous week. Western NSW offered the highest throughput, totalling 3,220 head, while southern and central Queensland listed a lower than usual volume, at only 842 head.

The overall clearance rate was steady on the previous reporting period, at 83%. Movement of stock was not localised, as Victoria, who offered no listings, purchased 1,800 head. Southern Queensland also had a net positive movement of goats, buying back 1,281 head. Other major purchasing regions included the Northwest Slopes & Plains of NSW (1,002 head), Western NSW (480 head) and Western Queensland (450 head).

Backgrounding Rangeland goats were again the most popular stock category. There were 4,146 head of Does, wethers and mixed sex lines on offer – selling from $80 to $217, averaging $134, back $12/head on the previous fortnight.

The top price was achieved by 23 Rangeland nannies with 36 kids at foot from Nyngan NSW, which weighed 29kg liveweight. These nannies had been continuously running with Rangeland billies, with the kids at foot averaging 4.5kg. This line will travel south to Finley, NSW. Another notable result was for a line of 195 Boer/Kalahari/Rangeland does from Morven Queensland, which returned $214/head. These Does were 4-6 months old & weighed 20kg liveweight - this line will travel to Hannaford, Queensland.

397 first cross bucks were offered across two lines from Western NSW and Southern Queensland, selling for $109 and $120/head respectively. The line of 210 Standard/Red Boer/Rangeland/ Boer composite bucks averaging 20kg liveweight at 2-10 months of age from Cobar, will travel south to St Arnaud, Victoria. A single vendor from Gore Queensland, offered 10 lots of single Boer bucks which sold from $350 to $510, averaging $459/head.
