The AuctionsPlus online wool offer board sold 1,893 bales for the month of September - an increase of 121% from the previous month. The AuctionsPlus offer board followed similar trends to the physical market, whereby key test data from the AWTA’s September release reported an increase in lots and bales by 23.8% and 20.4%, respectively, from the same period last year.

Unsurprisingly, finer wools sold in the largest quantities, with 391 bales of 18µ micron wool selling to a top of 1,570c/kg greasy, or 2,107c/kg clean. The top priced lot for the 18µ micron category was for 10 bales of AAAM Merino fleece wool offered by Nutrien Ag Solutions Victoria, with “TULLOCHGORUM” branding. The top priced lot overall for the month was for 8 bales of 15.5µ micron Merino fleece wool offered by AWN with “PALING YARDS” branding, selling for 2,700c/kg greasy, or 3,548c/kg clean. The lot contained 0.3% vegetable matter and was 90mm in length.

With the spring stud selling season in full force, several Merino auctions have achieved very high prices, notably the Wallaloo Park Merino & Poll Merino sale and the Mumblebone Merino sale -averaging well over $4,000/head, indicating robust demand for wool sheep.
