National wool listings were boosted this week by the traditional February feature Tasmanian offering which went under the hammer at the Melbourne selling centre, totalling 53,261 bales offered for the week. The AWEX Eastern Market Indicator dropped 11c on Tuesday and a further 1c on Wednesday to close out the selling week at 1273c/kg, or 985c in US dollar terms.
The pass in rate rose to 12.7% this week indicating a slight ease in demand and a spike in supply. As a result of the increased offering in Melbourne this week, the Southern selling centre operated on Thursday as well, closing the week out at 1226c/kg. The extended selling week finished on a positive note with fine wool continuing to be the focus for several buyers.
Online Offer Board Results
The AuctionsPlus offer board remained quiet this week, selling 315 bales for the period. 31 bales of 15µ micron wool sold for the week to a top of 1840c/kg greasy or 2545c/kg dry. 18µ micron wool was the largest category demanded with 83 bales sold to a top of 1250c/kg greasy or 1778c/kg dry. The top priced lot sold online this week was a lot of 13.8µ micron wool which sold for 4005c/kg greasy or 5228c/kg dry. This lot was “BELTANA” branded with 0.1% vegetable matter, 84mm in length and was offered by Nutrien Ag Solutions – Victoria.
