Sarah Schiffling

Dr Sarah Schiffling is an Assistant Professor Supply Chain Management & Social Responsibility at Hanken School of Economics and the Deputy Director of the HUMLOG (Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management Research) Institute in Helsinki, Finland. She is also a trustee for the Humanitarian Logistics Association. Sarah previously worked as a Lecturer in Logistics and Operations Management at the University of Lincoln, UK, and a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. Sarah enjoys writing about supply chain and humanitarian logistics topics for general audiences and often contributes to media coverage on TV, radio, podcasts, online, and in print. Sarah's research interests include pharmaceutical supply chains, disaster relief operations, supply chain disruptions, and supply chain management in developing nations. Her current projects focus on vaccine supply chains, logistics in conflict areas, localisation, circular economy, and waste management in humanitarian operations. Sarah frequently delivers lectures, talks, and panel discussions on humanitarian logistics and supply chain management topics to audiences of students, academics, practitioners, and policy makers. Her recent publications include papers in the International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and the International Journal of Production Research.
