Greg Downing from Spence Dix & Co, Keith, South Australia has been crowned the Top Throughput Assessor (sheep) in the 2024 AuctionsPlus awards.

The award is dedicated to the assessor who has assessed the greatest number of sheep listed on AuctionsPlus in the past financial year. The recipient has also  demonstrated a high level of assessment quality and upholds the AuctionsPlus User Agreement; including when both selling and purchasing.

The best piece of advice Mr Downing has been given is to "be honest, urgent and to always ask questions".

It is an honor to win the award and to be recognised as the Top Throughput Assessor (sheep) for 2024, especially as I work in a largely unrecognised farming region (King Island, SA).
It's all about relationships and treating people how you would like to be treated.
Certainly last year when we were selling lambs quickly amidst a failing season and a tough market. Clients needed to move their stock promptly while still maintaining reasonable returns.
Often the more you put in, the more you get out of your enterprise.
Keeping up with change and the best practices in the industry, especially technological changes while still maintaining your daily jobs. Currently, seasonal changes are also topical.
I  wish clients asked more about their market objectives and what they want to achieve.
To be honest, urgent and to always ask questions.

Puts them geographically in the marketplace while retaining the livestock on your property if your preferred price has not been reached.

AuctionsPlus is a great selling tool, always updating and presenting new selling options as well as marketing tools.

Through the AuctionsPlus Awards, we celebrate our community of assessors, agents, vendors, buyers and other valued industry members who play an integral role in driving the nation's largest agricultural marketplace forward.
