The Benelkay Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale achieved the top priced Santa Gertrudis bull interfaced through AuctionsPlus this week, with BENELKAY TUNGSTEN T124 (Lot 10), fetching the top sale price of $21,000.
In Central NSW, the week started off strong with the ‘Glenalbyn - Munnabah Santa Gertrudis Annual Bull Sale’. As the first Santa Gertrudis sale interfaced through AuctionsPlus this week, the sale attracted an acute online presence, as well as a keen crowd onsite.
AuctionsPlus’ Business Development Manager, Zoë Macfarlan attended the sale on Monday, and was thrilled with the success of the auction and the attentive online bidder presence.
“We were treated to a beautiful sunny day at Wellington NSW for the Third Annual Glenalbyn-Munnabah sale which topped at $20,000,” Ms Macfarlane said.
“Achieving 91% clearance at the fall of the hammer, the three remaining bulls were snapped up quickly post sale.
“It was an exciting day for new Glenalbyn Stud Principles Eliza and Jack Courts, having taken over after last year's auction."
Ms Macfarlane believed the sale was a strong start to a big week of Santa Gertrudis sales around NSW and QLD.
The ‘Bauhinia Park Charolais and Angus Bull Sale’ was another strong auction with great online activity. The sale achieved 100% clearance rate, with the auction averaging $15,150.
Described as “undoubtedly one of the best, thickest and most exciting bulls we have offered”, the top priced bull, BAUHINIA PARK TARGET (Lot 3) was purchased for $41,000. BAUHINIA PARK TROPICAL (Lot 41) was the top priced lot sold online, purchased for $18,000.
The ‘3R Angus 2024 Bull and Genetics Sale’ was another stand-out sale for the week, with bulls selling as far south as Kingston, SA, and reaching as far north as Augathella, QLD.
AuctionsPlus’ Business Development Manager Hugh Courts attended the 3R Angus sale held on “Goonoo Goonoo Station”, south of Tamworth on Tuesday, August 20, and was impressed with the selection of bulls listed, drawing in buyers from across Australia.
“There was a terrific, even line-up of bulls and a great turn out from people all over the country, ” Mr Courts said.
“It was wonderful to see high clearance through the catalogue and an attractive top price of $44,000."
He was also impressed with the spectacle of the sale proceedings, included 3R Angus hosting a Cattleman's Series Pre-Sale Dinner at the historic Glasshouse Restaurant, Goonoo Goonoo Station.
Despite the onsite sale events drawing a physical presence of bidders, Mr Courts believed the online presence did not go un-noticed with a strong contingent of online purchasers securing multiple lots.
“Even with such a great event put on around the sale it was good to see 12 active bidders online with five of them being successful,” Mr Courts said.
The ‘Fairview Black Simmental on Property Bull Sale’ was a great success, achieving 100% clearance. The sale held north of Mungallala, QLD, was supported with online activity.
All 47 Black Simmental Composite bulls offered were sold through the Helmsman style of auction, with Lot 21, FAIRVIEW TEMPTATION T84 fetching the top price of $20,000.
The sale averaged $10,733, achieving a premium from last year’s Spring sale which averaged $8174.
