Booroomooka’s Picasso commands the canvas as $60,000 sale topper

This week’s stud cattle sales interfaced through AuctionsPlus saw strong competition both onsite and online, with standout results across different breed offerings.

From the New England to the Gulf Country, AuctionsPlus bidders were active in every price bracket, driving spirited competition and helping deliver standout results at Booroomooka, Yalgoo, Hobbs Livestock and Seifert Belmont Reds sales.

We take a look at a few highlight results from across the week ending Friday, August 15. 

BOOROOMOOKA ANGUS BULL SALE

The 2025 Booroomooka Angus annual bull achieved the top price for a bull interfaced through AuctionsPlus this week. Booroomooka Picasso U1237 (lot 117), topped the day at $60,000.

Born in September 2023 and sired by Chiltern Park Picasso P9 from Booroomooka Whistleup P248, the September-drop sire was secured onsite by Boxmoor Angus, Bundarra NSW.

The sale achieved a 98% clearance, with 238 of 243 bulls selling for an average of $13,513.

Online demand from AuctionsPlus bidders was strong throughout the sale, contributing $392,000 in takings, with the online top of $42,000 for Lot 56.

The sale drew an impressive 709 logins, including 24 active online bidders (17 successful), who placed 239 bids across 107 lots.

With nearly 5,000 catalogue views, Booroomooka once again reinforced its reputation as a leading source of premium Angus genetics.

KIDMAN ANGUS BULL SALE

Kidman Angus achieved a 100% clearance rate at their 2025 bull sale, selling all 52 bulls offered to average $14,788 and gross $769,000.

The top-priced lot, Lot 2, sold for $28,000, was purchased by an online bidder. 

The top-selling sire, Kidman Bodyguard U57 (lot 2), was described as a "standout Paratrooper son displaying fantastic length, body mass and overall soundness."

Kidman Bodyguard U57 is ranked in the top 10% of the breed for 200, 400 & 600-day weights, scrotal size, carcase weight and the Angus Breeding Index.

Online buyers contributed $56,000 in takings at an average of $18,667, with 54 bids placed across 34 lots. The sale attracted 130 logins, including six active online bidders (three successful), and recorded 4,583 catalogue views.

YALGOO POLL HEREFORD BULL SALE

Yalgoo Poll Hereford's take home the chocolates for the top priced bull purchased online.

The 64th annual event sold 36 bulls from 40 offered to average $10,833 and top at $38,000 for Yalgoo Union U198, by Churchill Red Thunder 133J.

The top-selling sire the bull presented at 836 kilograms at 22 months with a 44 centimetre scrotal circumference. 

The sale attracted just shy of 2,500 catalogue views, with two successful online bidders securing two lots. 

HOBBS LIVESTOCK 3RD ANNUAL BULL SALE

Hobbs Livestock’s third annual sale saw its top bull fetch $40,000 onsite. Online buyers were active in the higher price brackets, securing the next two highest prices of $22,000 and $19,000.

Hobbs Livestock also led the field for buyer interest online, recording 4,492 catalogue views. The sale attracted 189 logins, with 14 active online bidders placing 45 online bids across 13 lots.

SEIFERT BELMONT REDS SALE

 
To Jandowae, Queensland, where the Seifert Belmont Reds Sale achieved full clearance, with 83/83 bulls averging $10,313, topping at $23000 (lot 30). Meanwhile, 38/38 females averaged $4,539, and sold to a top of $6,000 (lot 103).

The sale grossed over $1million, with the top bull, SEIFERT BELMONT REDS 240637 (lot 30), fetching $23,000.

Online bidding was active across the board—121 lots attracted AuctionsPlus bids, supported by 24 active online bidders and over 2,400 catalogue views. The sale’s smooth execution and strong buyer participation underscored the appeal of the Belmont Red offering.
