Settled conditions this week, drier outlook continues to build

It is a quiet weather week across the country, with a new large high moving into place, this leading to settled conditions this weekend and next week for most of the country. In comparison to the past few weeks, the rainfall spread and temperature spread settling back towards more of what you would expect between weather events.

With it being quieter, it will give me a chance to once again remind you that the El Niño continues to show up in the modelling for the remainder of Winter, Spring and Summer. It is quite likely that we are dealing wtih a strong El Niño into Autumn 2027.

What that means is that the good rainfall events of the past few weeks will become less and less a feature, and drier and much warmer weather will become a fixture across Australia.

While you may be looking out the window and across your sprawling landscape of green, saying this guy has no idea what is on about, I dare say, don’t write off the drying and drought forecast that is looming over yonder.

Australia has a tendency to swing rapidly from one setting to another when it comes to weather, and all the pieces of that drier puzzle and coming into play.

A reminder that we are looking at drier weather and the full 12 months of forecasting can be found at Weather Matters with Karl Lijnders www.weathermatters.org. It has been updated this week.

In the meantime you can see the rainfall guide below, and it is a guide. Careful refining of the forecast occurs as we get closer to each month. It is evident which direction we are heading, even though many areas are currently sitting pretty.

I will see you next week
