AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb listings lifted on last week, with 94,997 head offered across this week’s sales – up 19% on last week, and down 30% on the corresponding week in 2022. Lamb listings remained relatively low compared to previous weeks with 37,126 head offered, while higher overall listings were driven by non-station mated ewes. The higher offering saw mixed prices and clearance rates across both sheep and lamb categories. Overall clearance rates improved on last week as vendors and agents adjust reserves to meet the market.

13,822 head were offered in the AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales this week – up 15% on last week although 20% below the corresponding week in 2022.
AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb listings eased on last week, with 80,083 head offered across the week – back 8% on last week, and down 26% on the corresponding week in 2022.
The first full week of February saw 12,014 head offered in the AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales – up 26% on last week but 43% below the same week last year.
Lambs continue to dominate the offering, with the National Lamb Sale offering a total of 45,204 head offered across 146 lots.
The online goat market has had a subdued start to 2023, with AuctionsPlus commercial goat listings for January down 76% on December 2022 numbers.
Tighter numbers through the five young steer categories failed to rally prices, with all but the heaviest lines registering a decline on last week on a $/head basis.
Composite/other breed lambs sold to a 76% clearance across the 5,372 head offered. Prices lifted by $20 from last week to average $116/head.
The offering was largely dominated by PTIC heifers and heavy steers this week.
