Following a large listing last week, the first week of Autumn saw sheep and lamb numbers ease back by 22%, with a total offering of 104,101 head. The ongoing wet conditions across much of the eastern states contributed to the decreased offering this week, while buyers again showed some caution as autumn kicked-off.

Across the four weekly commercial goat sales held by AuctionsPlus during February, a total of 23,756 head were offered online.
Buyers were greeted by the largest AuctionsPlus cattle offering since November 2020 this week, at 22,648 head, with overall results underpinned by the search for quality, light cattle.
Sheep and lamb numbers increased again this week, jumping 18% to total 134,274 head - the largest weekly commercial offering since December 2021.
The largest weekly commercial cattle offering in almost ten months failed to dampen online prices, with the 21,481 head offered through AuctionsPlus largely selling to robust demand, especially through the young heifer lines.
AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb numbers lifted by 24% this week, to 113,835 head.
It was a reduced supply of cattle through AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales this week, with overall numbers contracting 20% on last week’s unexpectedly large offerings, to 17,113 head.
This week’s results for AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb sales were mixed, with an 8% decline in overall offerings, at 91,887 head, largely due to a smaller offering of Merino wether lambs and SIL Merino ewes.
After a quiet December, the AuctionsPlus online offer board had a huge start to the new year, with a total of 3,620 bales sold for the month of January.
