AuctionsPlus News

The AuctionsPlus online offer board leapt ahead for October, with a total of 2,760 bales sold for the month. This increase of 146% comes off the back of some large changes in the AWEX Eastern Market Indicator (EMI) throughout the month, with the EMI rising 46c/kg in the selling week ending on the 21st of October, and then falling the following week by 46c/kg. Once again there was a range of different micron bales sold, ranging from 15.4µ micron to 29.9µ micron.

Online buyers flexed their bidding muscles this week, with young cattle prices lifting higher across almost all categories, as the demand for cattle back into paddocks appears almost insatiable.
Goat listings on AuctionsPlus for October 2021 doubled from the previous month, with 14,535 head offered across the four sales.
AuctionsPlus weekly sheep and lamb throughput broke online listing records this week, with a total of 166,007 head offered across the commercial sales – breaking the previous high of 164,375 head set just two weeks earlier.
After a mixed performance last week, the AuctionsPlus young steer market roared back to form this week, with the four lightest categories regaining some lost ground.
A total of 137,876 head of sheep and lambs were offered through AuctionsPlus this week – back 16% from last weeks largest ever weekly commercial offering.
AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales results this week reflected the ongoing demand for proven breeding cattle, as seasonal conditions continue to see producers dig very deep for quality lines.
This week saw the largest commercial sheep and lamb offering by AuctionsPlus on record. A total of 164,375 head were listed online - 22% above last weeks’ offering and 166% above the corresponding week in 2020.
Widespread rain, a disrupted selling week and a 22% weekly reduction in supplies would traditionally point to a much stronger online cattle market.
