It’s that time of the week when we check in on some key indicators of performance in the livestock markets.

The Eastern States Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) has lifted to 862c/kg on Friday morning, down 5c on last week, however is up 180c on the same time last year.

Meanwhile, the National Young Cattle Indicator (NYCI) ended the week at 467c/kg cwt. It is up 7c on last week and up 100c. Meanwhile, has softened 15c over the month.

The National Feeder Heifer Indicator (NFHI), which offers a dedicated lens into the feeder heifer market, was sitting at 471c/kg on Friday morning, holding firm over the week.

The Processor Cow Indicator has closed the week at 371c/kg cwt on Friday morning, down 12c on last week. The top three contributors to this indicator were Roma Store, NVLX Wodonga and Forbes.

Now, let’s turn to the sheep and lamb markets.

The Trade Lamb Indicator closed the week at 1,083c/kg on Friday morning. That's up 27c on last week, and is up 302c on the same time last year.

The AuctionsPlus Restocker Lamb Indicator (ARLI) closed the week at 1,181c/kg DW, well above long-term averages and reflective of resilient restocker demand heading into the new year.

The Light Lamb Indicator has closed the week sitting at 1,032c on Friday morning, which was 13c up on last week. However, 329c greater than the same time last year.

The Restocker Lamb Indicator lifted to 1,108c/kg on Friday morning, which is up 25c up on this time last week, and up 405c on last year.

The Heavy Lamb Indicator has closed the week at 1,050c/kg cwt. This is 7c/kg back on the same time last week. The top contributors were Wagga, Griffith and Bendigo.
