It was a reduced supply of cattle through AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales this week, with overall numbers contracting 20% on last week’s unexpectedly large offerings, to 17,113 head.
This week’s results for AuctionsPlus commercial sheep and lamb sales were mixed, with an 8% decline in overall offerings, at 91,887 head, largely due to a smaller offering of Merino wether lambs and SIL Merino ewes.
After a quiet December, the AuctionsPlus online offer board had a huge start to the new year, with a total of 3,620 bales sold for the month of January.
AuctionsPlus commercial lamb and sheep offerings continue to gradually increase as 2022 gets back into routine, with offerings for the past week up 8%, to 100,368 head.
Following fruitful rainfall across December and into the start of 2022 across key goat producing regions, AuctionsPlus goat listings had a record monthly offering of 34,195 head listed across the four weekly commercial goat sales held in January.
AuctionsPlus commercial cattle sales this week continued to see a steady rise in offerings, with the first signs of some buyer caution evident through the young steer lines, with prices softer and clearance rates below late 2021 levels for the second consecutive week.
